The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends Americans host Thanksgiving Dinner virtually or outdoors during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Celebrating virtually or with members of your own household (who are consistently taking measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19) poses the lowest risk for spread,” the CDC announced in a new list of recommendations for celebrating Thanksgiving in 2020.

The guidance suggests Americans schedule a time to share a meal together virtually over a computer, rather than invite people to their homes.

“Have people share recipes and show their turkey, dressing, or other dishes they prepared,” the list recommends.

The guidance also encourages Americans to just stay at home, watch sports and movies, or “find a fun game to play.” Another option is to leave a meal on the front porch of a neighbor or a loved one, rather than meet them for the holiday.

If Americans do risk hosting an in-person meal with people outside of their household, the CDC recommends it be held outdoors or inside with the windows open.

(Reuters) – Global coronavirus cases rose by more than 400,000 for the first time late on Friday, a record one-day increase as much of Europe enacts new restrictions to curb the outbreak.

The UK’s envoy to the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) has condemned mass coronavirus lockdowns, slamming the “ghastly global catastrophe” caused by crashing the world economy.

Dr. David Nabarro from the W.H.O. appealed to world leaders on Saturday, telling them to stop “using lockdowns as your primary control method” of the coronavirus.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards on Thursday said Louisiana would remain in Phase 3 of the White House-approved restrictions meant to control the spread of COVID-19 until Nov. 6.

The announcement comes as some legislators continue to call for an end to all pandemic mitigation measures and question the governor’s right to impose them, arguing the rules handcuff the economy and violate basic individual rights.

On Friday, the Conservation Society announced a three-hour Fall Heritage Festival hosted in La Villita with 1,000 attendees  to raise money for historic preservation and other programs. The society told the San Antonio Express-News it is not a NIOSA event, but guests will notice many comparisons to the food and drinks.

Admission to the Nov. 6 event is $125 and the crowd size is limited to 1,o00 people; typically NIOSA draws 20,000 nightly. Once inside, guests will have unlimited access to food and drinks. Everyone will be required to wear face coverings, except when seated while eating and drinking. They will also be required to maintain social distancing. Patti Zaiontz, the president of the organization, said there will be space to “spread out.”
